Question 1

What is Cloud Closet?

Accepted Answer

Cloud Closet is a professional clothing storage service that lets you store your wardrobe in our secure, climate-controlled facility and access it from anywhere in the US. We photograph and itemize each piece, giving you a digital closet you can manage from your phone or computer. Unlike traditional storage units, you pay per item based on what you store, never for square footage you don't use.

Question 2

How does Cloud Closet work?

Accepted Answer

It's simple: sign up, request boxes (or use your own), pack your clothes, and ship them to us for free with a prepaid label. We professionally photograph each item, apply RFID tracking tags, and add everything to your digital closet. Whenever you need something, request it through your dashboard and we'll ship it to any US address. You even get 1 free shipment every month.

Question 3

Who is Cloud Closet for?

Accepted Answer

Cloud Closet is perfect for urban professionals with limited closet space, frequent travelers, digital nomads, seasonal residents, students, and anyone who wants professional clothing care with location flexibility. If you've ever wished your wardrobe could travel with you, or you simply need more space at home, Cloud Closet is for you.

Question 4

What areas do you serve?

Accepted Answer

We ship to any address in the United States, including homes, apartments, hotels, and temporary residences. Our facility is based in Delaware, and all shipments are handled through UPS and FedEx with full tracking.

Question 5

What makes Cloud Closet different from traditional storage?

Accepted Answer

Traditional storage charges for square footage whether you use it or not, requires you to physically travel to access your items, and offers no itemization or tracking. Cloud Closet provides professional itemization with photos, per-item pricing, a digital dashboard, nationwide shipping, and professional care for your clothing, all without ever visiting a storage unit.

Question 6

How much does storage cost?

Accepted Answer

We charge monthly per item based on garment type: Lightweight items (t-shirts, tanks): $1.00/month, Standard Apparel (shirts, jeans, dresses): $2.50/month, Outerwear (coats, jackets): $4.00/month, Formal/Special Care (suits, gowns): $8.00/month, Footwear: $2.50/month, Accessories (hats, belts, ties): $1.50/month, Bags (purses, backpacks): $3.00/month.

Question 7

How does shipping work?

Accepted Answer

Sending items to us is always free. We provide a prepaid return label every time, no exceptions. For getting items back, every customer gets 1 free shipment per month. Additional shipments are $15 each. For larger bulk box retrievals, you'll see the live carrier rate at checkout, capped at a maximum of $45 no matter the destination.

Question 8

When am I charged?

Accepted Answer

Storage fees are charged monthly at the start of each billing cycle based on the items currently in storage. Items added mid-cycle aren't charged until the next cycle. For shipping, you're only charged when you request an outbound shipment beyond your free monthly shipment. We save your payment method on file when you sign up, but don't charge anything until after we receive and photograph your items.

Question 9

How do I send my clothes to Cloud Closet?

Accepted Answer

You have two options: choose "Send me boxes" and we'll ship you free cardboard boxes with a prepaid return label, or choose "I'll use my own box" and we'll send you just the prepaid return label. Either way, shipping to us is always free. Pack your items, drop the box at any UPS or FedEx location, and we'll take it from there.

Question 10

Do I have to list my items before sending them?

Accepted Answer

No. Just pack your items and send them. Our team processes everything when your package arrives by photographing each item, categorizing it, and adding it to your digital closet. You don't need to pre-declare or list anything in advance.

Question 11

What happens when my items arrive?

Accepted Answer

We photograph the package exterior for condition documentation, then unpack and process each item individually. Every item is photographed, categorized for pricing, given an RFID tracking tag, and stored in our climate-controlled facility. You'll receive an email when intake is complete with your item count and estimated monthly cost, and all items will appear in your digital closet.

Question 12

Can I send items that need cleaning?

Accepted Answer

We ask that all items be clean and dry before sending. During intake, our team will flag any items that appear to need cleaning and notify you.

Question 13

What if I send something that wasn't on my list?

Accepted Answer

If we receive items that differ from what's expected, we'll email you for approval. You can choose to have them added to your inventory at the appropriate storage rate or have them returned.

Question 14

How do I access my digital closet?

Accepted Answer

Log into your Cloud Closet dashboard at mycloudcloset.com from any device. You'll see professional photos of all your stored items with search, filtering by category, and status badges so you always know what's in storage and what's in transit.

Question 15

How do I know where my items are?

Accepted Answer

Every item receives a unique RFID tag and is assigned a specific storage location in our facility. Your dashboard shows each item's current status, whether it's in storage, being processed, in transit to you, or delivered. You'll also receive email notifications at every stage.

Question 16

How quickly can I get my items?

Accepted Answer

We process retrieval requests within 1–2 business days, then hand off to UPS or FedEx. Total delivery time depends on your location, but most domestic shipments arrive within 2–5 business days after processing.

Question 17

Where can you ship my items?

Accepted Answer

Anywhere in the United States, including homes, apartments, hotels, offices, temporary residences, or any other valid US address you provide.

Question 18

How do I request items?

Accepted Answer

Select the items you want in your dashboard, enter the shipping address, and submit your request. We'll pick, pack, and ship your items with tracking information sent to you via email.

Question 19

What if I need items returned to storage?

Accepted Answer

Sending items back to us is always free. Request a prepaid return label through your dashboard, pack your items, and drop them off at any UPS or FedEx location. We'll process them back into your inventory when they arrive.

Question 20

Can I request multiple shipments?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can request as many shipments as you need. Remember, every customer gets 1 free shipment per month. Additional shipments are $15 each, and bulk box shipments are charged at live carrier rates capped at $45.

Question 21

Do you offer cleaning services?

Accepted Answer

Not yet at launch. We currently ask that all items be clean and dry before sending them to us. Professional cleaning services are planned as a future add-on, and we'll notify you when they become available.

Question 22

How do you care for my clothes while stored?

Accepted Answer

All items are stored in a climate-controlled environment designed to maintain conditions suitable for garments. Items are stored on appropriate hangers, in garment bags, or folded with acid-free tissue depending on the garment type. We use cedar and lavender pest deterrents, conduct regular inspections, and organize items by category to prevent damage. Every item is photographed at intake to document its condition.

Question 23

What if an item gets damaged?

Accepted Answer

If damage occurs while an item is in our care, you must notify us in writing within 5 business days of discovery. We'll investigate the claim using our intake photography as a reference. Compensation is based on per-item liability caps by category: Lightweight and Accessories up to $100, Standard Apparel and Footwear up to $150, Outerwear and Bags up to $250, and Formal/Special Care and Sports Equipment up to $500. Full details are in our Terms of Service.

Question 24

What protection applies to my items?

Accepted Answer

Cloud Closet is not an insurer. We provide liability protection with per-item limits based on item category, ranging from $100 to $500 per item. We recommend maintaining your own homeowner's or renter's insurance for full-value protection. For items valued above $1,000, we'll confirm with you before storing; our liability remains limited to the per-item cap and any value above it is stored at your own risk.

Question 25

How secure is my information?

Accepted Answer

We use SSL encryption for all data in transit, encrypted data storage at rest, two-factor authentication (2FA) for account access, and PCI-compliant payment processing through Stripe. We never store your full credit card number. Our full security and privacy practices are detailed in our Privacy Policy.

Question 26

How do you track my items?

Accepted Answer

Every item receives a unique RFID tag that tracks it through our entire system, from intake to storage location assignment to shipping. You can see each item's status and location in your dashboard, and you'll receive email updates at every stage of the process.

Question 27

What happens if an item goes missing?

Accepted Answer

Our RFID system and documented storage locations make loss extremely rare. In the unlikely event an item cannot be located, we'll investigate thoroughly and work with you to resolve the situation based on the item's documented condition and the applicable liability cap for its category.

Question 28

Is there a minimum commitment?

Accepted Answer

No. Cloud Closet operates on a month-to-month basis with no long-term contracts required. You can request all your items back and close your account at any time.

Question 29

Can I pause my service?

Accepted Answer

Contact our support team at support@mycloudcloset.com to discuss your options. Storage fees apply as long as items are in our facility.

Accepted Answer
